Data Dynamics Launches 'Argus Catalog Enterprise' — Extension Modules and Dedicated Support on the Open-Source Core

The open-source Community edition stays free … 'Enterprise' adds extension modules and SLA-backed dedicated support for production environments

Data Dynamics, Inc., a company specializing in AI and data platforms, announced on the 12th the launch of the Enterprise edition of Argus Catalog, its integrated metadata management platform. Data Dynamics had previously fully open-sourced the entire core engine of Argus Catalog on GitHub under the Apache License 2.0.

The new Enterprise edition includes the open-source Community edition in full, adding the extension modules and dedicated technical support that production environments demand. The company's stance: "data sovereignty through open source, operational productivity and accountable support through Enterprise."

How the two editions relate

The open-source core is identical across both editions — data catalog, search, data quality, metadata governance, ML model registry, and AI. Enterprise adds extension modules for production integration and enterprise support services on top.

Enterprise-only features

The Enterprise edition provides extension modules that capture the data flows of real production environments more deeply.

• Query-based lineage & relationship collection — collects queries actually executed on production SQL engines such as Hive, Impala, Trino, and StarRocks to automatically extract column-level runtime lineage and usage-based column JOIN relationships. A multi-dialect SQL parser (including Impala) handles engine-specific syntax.
• Static source-code analysis — analyzes Java (JPA, Hibernate, MyBatis, Spring JDBC) and Python (SQLAlchemy, Django ORM, DB-API) application source code to extract DB table mappings, automatically enriching catalog lineage.
• Enterprise connector sync — bulk-syncs metadata automatically from a wide range of data sources such as Greenplum, Iceberg REST, and Kudu.
• LDAP/AD user sync — uses OpenLDAP/Active Directory as the source of truth to automatically provision, deactivate, and update catalog users by department, keeping users and permissions consistent with the corporate directory.

Enterprise support & services

The Enterprise edition comes with a support program covering everything from adoption to operations.
